Never Again

April 23, 2010 - 1:09 AM

For most, the end of the school year marks the coming of summer vacation, fun in the sun and worry-free relaxation. But for some, it marks the end of our time here in Eugene and at the University of Oregon.

Without getting lost in melancholy, I can't help but notice something every day that I will have to say goodbye to at the end of week 10. I will never again get to lay on the Humpy Lumpy Lawn just because I've finished my homework. I will never again be able to go to a football game for free and sit in the student section. I will never again dig through the mountains of books at Smith Family looking for bargain textbooks. I will never again have to choose between Taco Tuesdays at Taylor's or two for $10 calzone Tuesdays at DoughCo. I will never again be kept up on Friday and Saturday nights by drunk partygoers just outside my window.

There are a lot of things I will never do again here in Eugene, and to be honest, I will probably find a new place to eat tacos, buy my textbooks online, and watch games on TV, but there is no denying the importance of this chapter in my life.

I will forever be a Duck. I will always own some piece of UO memorabilia and I will always have a sense of pride whenever my alma mater is mentioned. I don't know what life is going to be like living in California and going to a different Pac-10 school, but I know that while I was here, I loved my life as a Duck.
