Looking forward to summer

May 24, 2009 - 8:23 PM

This summer, I am going to be working for a political consulting firm in Sacramento. I can't wait to get down there into the hot summer weather. I will be staying with friends of our family who have a home that is quite beautiful. My dad is making me take the nice family car for safety, and I will have just my day job-meaning no homework! Thank god.

I hope that despite having the internship during the day, I will be able to sit around their pool and read, get plenty of exercise, and relax.

I am ready for some relaxation. This term has been quite the stressful one. Most of the people I talked to this term had the most preposterously difficult term of their year this spring. I don't know how we all managed that, but I am glad that summer is coming.

I am glad to have a day job that looks great on my resume, but I really am looking forward to not having to think about things after 5 p.m.

Of course, I don't know what it is going to be like when I graduate and have a job, but I look so forward to leaving work at work-as opposed to school, where work is everywhere all the time.

I have heard that people miss college and think that the working world is much more difficult to deal with. But others have told me that they are really glad that they don't have to think about homework when they get off work.

But most of all, I want a job that I enjoy. I don't know if that will necessarily be journalism, but the work that I am doing in school is broadening my horizons so that when I hit the job market, I will have more options available to me.
