GRE PREP

I just got out of my GRE Prep course that I am taking so that I don't completely ruin my math score when I take the test that may determine whether or not I go to graduate school.

The course is MORE than worth it! I am so glad that I decided to take it. To prepare you, the Teaching and Learning Center uses a guide that is made by the people who put the test together, so that you can pick the brains of the creators.

They also do not teach you math-they teach you shortcuts. Apparently, the test is not checking your ability to compute, but your ability to navigate the logic of problems. If something seems complicated, it is probably because there is a shortcut.

This is a fantastic revelation for me! Although the review problems help me brush up on my math skills, I feel like I might actually have a score that doesn't send me into a calorie-binge (you know how that goes...right?).

We also did work on the essays, which look innocent, but if you don't understand the creators' intention with the essays, you won't be able to answer the question correctly. So not only do we go over a nearly fool-proof formula, but we discuss what the graders are looking for.

If you are considering graduate school, or if you are preparing for the SAT, please, please, please take a prep course like this one! You will really benefit from the opportunity.
