Where Has the Week Gone?

June 5, 2009 - 9:33 AM

Oh man, I can't believe it is already Friday. This is probably the fastest week I have ever experienced. Even when I was getting ready, but still kind of putting off. going to Germany, my weeks didn't go this fast. It's unbelievable. My freshman year is basically over. I have my German class today and that's it and we are playing a game because it is Markus' last day too. Next week he flies back home to Switzerland I think. He was an awesome teacher. I really learned a lot from him. I'll miss him. This week has been pretty crazy. I had my psychology final on Wednesday and yesterday was my self defense final. It has been a great year. I loved all the classes I took. This term was a lot of fun. I kept busy and didn't have too many breaks, but it was still relaxed. I took four credits worth of fun classes. I really liked them all, guitar, self defense, psychology mind and brain, German, and even writing 121. They were not always the most fun to attend, but I kind of feel like most general education classes are like that.

OK, I have the craziest story for you. Haha. I can't help but laugh thinking about it. So I was really tired on Tuesday for my self defense class. I got up way early and just never seem to have woken up before class. Anyway, so we are in class right. Well we partner up and grab pads. We stand in a circle. We start practicing all the kicks, punches, slaps, and grabs we have learned this term. It was practice for our final. Well it was a pretty small class Tuesday, so we were in a pretty tight knit circle. It is my turn to hold the pad now (so I'm being kicked at). Well I'm zoning off and not paying much attention (other than not getting kicked or punched) and I realize it kind of seems like we are doing some sort of ritual dance. Our teacher was counting in Japanese and everyone is more or less kicking and punching at the same moment. It just struck me as kind of ritual-looking and sounding and it took every ounce of my determination to not start giggling. It was so funny. At least I thought it was. That is my funny story of the term.

Well class (or game) calls. I need to finish getting ready. So until next time...
