So last night was the second or third story time I have had with one of my hall mates, Nina. She is in the German Fairy Tales class and since I am so involved with German she just started reading the stories out loud one night. After that it became kind of normal for her to read the shorter stories out loud with me. It is so much fun. The earlier ones we read were Brother Grimm stories. They are so scary sounding that I can't believe people actually told their kids these stories. They always seem to end in some sad way. For instance there is one (I don't remember the name) where this mother is trying to keep her son from marrying this girl by making her look like a cannibal. The son figures this out. Then he has his mother boiled alive in oil and poisonous snakes. Is it just me or is that kind of crazy? That is not something I would read to my kids. The two we read last night were more up to date. These were still kind of scary to think about, but they seem to apply to our daily lives in a more realistic kind of way. They were sad though. One was about a daughter being raped by her father. Not something people really want to think about. As I said though, they are more applicable to daily life. These story times are always fun. It is a nice way to connect and just enjoy other's company. Nina's roommate Katrina is usually around and some of our friends from that end of the hall come to listen for a little bit. I love the Brothers Grimm, even though they were kind of eccentric sounding. They are good fictional writers in my opinion.

Well since it is so early in the morning, I'm going to keep this one short. My roommate is still asleep and I don't want to wake her with my typing. So until next time...

I'm glad you appreciate my incredible storytelling skillz (voices and hand-motions included). Story time is most definitely the highlight of my week! Love you, Leah!
