Dead Week

December 1, 2009 - 4:00 PM

First off can someone please explain to me how it is already December?!?!?!?!!??! It's just not possible. Just the other day I was telling you all how excited and scared I was to be starting my summer internship. Now in a month I'll be recruiting people to do it next summer! Where has the time gone? There must be some gaping hole in the time continuum somewhere that is causing us to lose out on so much time. I guess my aunt really wasn't lying when she said the time flies by faster the older you get. It's weird because I can't believe it is December already, but at the same time I feel like I have been in school so much longer than three months...no actually only two months. AH!

Ok so this week is what is called dead week. I think it needs a new name. Dead week to me would imply a week of taking it easy and not having to stress so much. Dead week is the exact opposite. You have to push to finish all those lovely last minute projects that professors put on you and you have to start studying your butt off for finals. Heck I have to start studying for geology and it's in a week. I'm hoping if I start now it will get me a better grade. I'm dancing with the line of a C right now in that class and I can't really have that. Talk about killing my GPA which means that much harder to keep the Dean's scholarship and receiving other ones based on GPA. This week is just stressful. Maybe it is dead week in the fact that everyone is dead tired. The library is now open 24/7 (if I'm not mistaken at least) and you actually see people sleeping in the chairs in there. It is crazy! I think it should be renamed hell week or something a little more fitting.

On the bright side though dead week does mean only a week and a half (well for me anyway) until school is out. I can't say that I'm totally looking forward to three and a half weeks break though. Don't get me wrong, I love not having homework, having to eat dorm food (which by now I just hate), or having to worry about getting to class on time. It is just that when I am home there really isn't much to do. I only keep in contact with one good friend from high school and that girl has to schedule you in she is so busy. A lot of my friends or at least the people I know from school live in California. It just kind of turns into me feeling sorry for myself and being bored out of my mind. Oh well though. I am spending a week in Arizona visiting my grandparents with my cousin and I do have a few things that need to get done so maybe this break will be about accomplishing stuff and keeping myself busy. Or maybe not. I guess we will see.

Well speaking of getting myself to class on time I should finish getting ready and start trekking across campus. So until next time...
