Can we pick a winning Season?

I don't know about the rest of the world today, but I know in Eugene we are having the craziest, weirdest, most abnormal weather today. Mother Nature cannot make up her mind. I woke up this morning and showered, as usual, then decided to take a peek outside to see what it looked like so I could dress appropriately. It looked kind of sunny through the blinds so I thought it would quite the beautiful day. Imagine my surprise when I find a light snowfall!!!! Seriously??? Come on!! To start with it rarely snows in the Great Northwest and on the off chance that it does it never sticks. We already had on abnormality with it snowing like crazy and sticking over winter break!!! We got our white Christmas. Now what is with it snowing in MARCH!!!! I mean honestly. I just don't understand it. Well by the time I am ready and outside to go to class the snow has stopped. Of course it is still bitingly cold outside and grey, but no snow. Halfway to class here come the flakes again. Then by the time I'm out of class the sun was trying to break through. By the time I'm going to my last class at two the sun is shining and it's beautiful out. Still ice cold, but sunny and bright. Sometimes I think Mother Nature is playing a joke on us. I thought spring was coming. We had some really pretty days last week and some really wet, but pretty warm days too. That is usually the sign for the coming of spring. As weird as this was today I know of a different time that was even stranger. When I was in fourth grade is snowed in April!! That was crazy. It also came at a really bad time. In Washington you have to take the test known as the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL for short) in fourth, seventh, and tenth grade. Well this snow storm came in the middle of the day while we were testing. We missed playing in it because we couldn't have recess due to testing. Luckily afterwards the teachers let us go out for a little and play in it. It stuck for that day too. That is definitely not normal for that time of year. April is most definitely spring. I'm ready for warmer and hopefully dryer weather now. I love the first few weeks of winter and then I'm over it. I love the crisp, clean air of a cold, clear day. As much as I love those days I'm so ready for the warm sun so I can play some basketball and soccer and wear clothing that doesn't make me look like an Eskimo. It will be nice when it comes. Well that's all I've got for now. So until next time...
