January 4, 2010 - 1:20 AM
It's 1:22am right now, and I am looking at my schedule for this term thinking.... "Wow, all I have are two classes each day!" Another part of me is saying I need to get to bed soon because the first class I have is less than 7 hours away. Morning classes are never good for me, since I am, and never was a morning person. One of my New Year's resolutions was to sleep earlier this term especially since every day I am faced with either an 8 o'clock or 9 o'clock class.
This term I am taking 16 credits. One of which fulfills my major requirements, Illustration for Digital Arts, and a Women's History course to finish off my general requirements. The last two classes are electives, Chinese History and Black and White Photography. I'm taking the Chinese History Class for my personal interests in the past history of modern China. I have recently seen movies and read books that involve WW2 and the Cultural Revolution and would love to learn more. I am also really excited about the photography class that I will be taking, since I have never taken a photography class before. This would be a great opportunity for me to sharpen my skills and the terminology used when taking photos with traditional SLR cameras. The course is also a prerequisite for Digital Photography, and that is definitely something that would benefit in my studies and career.
Speaking of SLR cameras, I am still looking and waiting to purchase one. The Digital Photography course requires students to own their own. This is a good excuse for me to buy a good quality camera. I still have no idea what some of the functions and settings are, but this is a good opportunity for me to study and hunt for a camera, as well as the best deal. The cameras I am looking at tend to fall around 500-700 dollars. Hopefully prices will fall come spring term when newer camera models hit the market. Not only will I need to buy the actually camera, but I will need different lenses for different zooms and effects as well. It will definitely cost a lot.... But I hope to spend as little as possible for my favorite, the Pentax Kx. I see it as a good investment in my career in the long run, I will soon be able to take close ups of objects without the image blurring.
