I just finished my Chinese take home final that is due today and I thought I would be able to squeeze in a blog entry before I go to bed. This is the first take home final I've ever done. Even though I am allowed to use the text books for help, it still wasn't easy. All my answers were either paragraphs or essay form. It took a while for me to thumb through the 3 text books to find examples to support my answers. Before, when I first received the hardcopy of the final in class, I was really excited that the professor had decided to give us a take home test. I thought for sure that I would be able to get all the answers right. But after working on it for the past two days, I realize that it is my response and interpretation to some of the questions that will allow me to earn a good grade.
I plan to wake up at 10 or so and proofread some of my answers. I have another history class to prepare for tomorrow and I am not looking forward to it. Taking 2 history courses, if you are not a hardcore enthusiast, is rather difficult. There are so many dates and numbers to remember and I get mixed up between the two. What is interesting though is that the history courses I am taking involve events that have occurred in the last century. I can relate and compare issues to one another, such as women's rights, but that's about it. I thought I would share that little connection I found since some of the topics that we learned in US Women's history can also be applied to what women in China had faced as well....which I thought was pretty exciting.
Although I enjoyed tying these connections together, I still find that the workload of 2 history courses is really too much. Never again will I take 2 history courses at the same time. I have 6 textbooks total just from these 2 classes. There was so much to read, and I had to read and write reading responses both class every week. Now I have to study for another final right after finishing my Chinese final. So much work and stress! This time the women's history final is in class. I'm a bit nervous because I really need to drill myself with another batch of names and events. Tuesday's final will be another essay form so I'll be studying for the majority of the day and night tomorrow. All right, I need some rest. Goodnight everyone!
