Twas the Night Before the National Championship Game

Twas the night before the National Championship game, when all through Eugene,

Every Duck fan was praying, they couldn't fathom losing.
Yellow and green were strung across the city with cheer,
In hopes that tomorrow would ring victory clear.

The students were up doing homework until brain dead,
While ideas of how to ditch class connived through their heads.
And before I could sleep, my blog I sat to write,
To talk about anything but the game, I hadn't the might.

Then all of a sudden my brain had a thought,
It was a brilliant idea, my mind had just caught.
I was getting so tired of everything being so quiet,
So putting on some music, I thought I would try it.

Pacific Northwest rain pitter-pattered on my roof,
But from its chilly nature, I stayed quite aloof.
It was not the flu that I felt coming on,
But Duck fever had taken me over and I was far gone.

So what kind of music could soothe this, I thought,
And then remembered a marching band song I had recently bought.
Oregon, our Alma Mater we will guard thee on and on,
Let us gather round and cheer her, chant her glory, Oregon!

So, I concluded in that moment to put on the fight song,
And all through verses, I sang right along.
My heart felt a flutter and filled with school pride,
If asked who my team is, I could never have lied.

Then I sat and thought about what I would wear,
To the community, my pride I desired to share.
Tomorrow I knew just what it would be,
Everything yellow, except for some green.

And with that decided I finally went to sleep,
Anxious to hear my alarm's morning beep.
To a historical day, I would awake,
A chance to be winners of the National Championship game, the Ducks would soon take!

GO DUCKS!!!!!!
