Once again, I must express my gratitude to the University of Oregon and in particular to the Robert D. Clark Honors College. I was recently informed that I will be receiving the Joy Poust Scholarship for the 2010-11 academic year. I also received this award for the 2008-09 academic year. I am very honored to be chosen for this scholarship.
The Joy Poust Scholarship is offered to an undergraduate in the Clark Honors College who demonstrates financial need and academic merit. I think that is it great to have these types of scholarships that truly help to alleviate some of the financial stress that unfortunately accompanies a college education. The generosity of the individual donors who made my scholarship possible is an inspiration to me.
In my scholarship essay this year, I was able to talk a lot about how my internship credits that I completed last summer for my Planning, Public Policy and Management degree really helped me to learn how to apply my coursework to a real world setting. It is fun looking back through my scholarship applications and seeing how my academic interests have become more focused and strong throughout my time here at the University.
This was my last year of applying for scholarships at the UO. Hopefully, some day I will be funding a Duck in his or her academic pursuits. My next scholarship applications will be in the future when I decide to go to graduate school - and we're hoping for a full ride on those ones!
