It Was a Very Good Year

Senior year one of two has come to an end and what a year it has been. Within one year, I have secured an incredible summer internship with The Carter Center. I have finalized a thesis prospectus and am ready for the upcoming research. I have grown even closer to some of the most amazing college friends I could ever ask for.

I think that each year of college has its own unique feel to it and some of them are very hard. College is not only an academic pursuit, but also a very important maturing process full of emotional, spiritual, and experiential journeys. My freshman, sophomore, and junior years each had their own tone, theme, lesson. I believe that my senior year did as well and that this message was one of beauty, growth, and the pursuit of everything fabulous.

Who would've known back in the fall of 2006 when I first became a Duck that this is the point I would be at now? A piece of advice for incoming freshmen: The college experience is what you make it, get out of it all that you possibly can. Do not let these moments pass you by without reflecting. Don't pass up the opportunity to use all of your resources on campus. Soak it up!

I finished all of my finals this week, a week early, so that I can leave on the 5th for a summer with The Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia. It has been one of the busiest weeks ever, but it has also been wonderful, as the promise of the summer awaits me!

I am full of nostalgia, as I prepare to leave many of my graduating friends, but I am also excited for each of our continuing paths. Congratulations to all of the recent college grads! I'm off to Atlanta!
