I have stated information in posts before regarding my extreme love for my internship's Kirbo Crew. For those of you not up on this lingo, the Kirbo Crew is a group consisting of myself and two other development interns. We all work out in the Kirbo Building away from the main Carter Center and hence have formed a strong bond with each other that logically relates back to the building name of Kirbo. Well, this Friday, we took our Kirbo love to the next level.

Earlier in the week, the Annual Fund intern and I went to a t-shirt making store in the Little Five Points neighborhood and had three shirts made reading "Kirbo" across the front and "4 Lyfe" across the back. We gave the third shirt to the Planned Giving intern and tried to bottle up our excitement to wear them all week. This Friday was our last Casual Friday together since the Annual Fund intern finishes this upcoming Wednesday. Therefore, this meant going out with a bang.

On Friday, we all showed up to the Kirbo building in our personalized Kirbo t-shirts and they ended up being quite the hit. The staff in Kirbo joked about making them the official uniform for Fridays and asked us where their shirts were. Our Chief Development Officer in Major Gifts also told us that we had to go show the Vice President of Operations the shirts. So, we headed up to the main Center. We had planned to do this anyway since we wanted to show off our Kirbo pride to all of the interns working in the Peace Pavilion.

It turned out that the VP of Operations was in a meeting with the President and CEO of The Carter Center when we got up there. However, the secretary found our shirts so amusing that she not only called for the Center's official photographer to come, but also interrupted the meeting to have both the VP of Operations and the President come out to see us! They loved our shirts and posed for some photos with us. We were asked our story about the shirts and I believe it will be in the upcoming Carter Center newsletter. There was also talk about sending the photo to the Kirbo family! Who knew our shirts would cause such a stir?

We finished our stroll through The Carter Center by walking through the Peace Pavilion where all of the other interns work. Although we attempted to do this with a straight face, I know that I at least failed at doing so. I'm not sure the other interns were too surprised that we would do something like this.

Overall, we certainly got looks everywhere we went on Friday, but it didn't matter because I was just proud to represent the Kirbo name.
