How About Those Ducks?!

This Saturday I got the wonderful opportunity to watch the University of Oregon Ducks Football Team clinch their spot into the BCS National Championship Game.

I couldn't have imagined a better game for it to happen. The Ducks were playing the Oregon State Beavers in the annual Civil War game. I had a lot of friends who drove up to Corvallis to watch the game and to attend ESPN's College Game Day event. I, however, watched it with some friends at a local sports bar in Eugene. It is was so neat to be able to see OSU's stadium on TV and see so much green and yellow amongst the orange and black.

It was even more exciting to be able to be watching this historic game happen amongst a room full of Duck fans. The energy and spirit in the room was incredible. Whether or not someone likes football or supports college athletics, there can be no denial that this event has brought a truly beautiful sense of community to Eugene. It has helped to further the connection between the campus environment and the residents of Lane County. The University of Oregon truly feels integrated into the greater community.

This is the Ducks first trip to the National Championship Game. It is such a neat memory to be able to have for my final year here at the University of Oregon. I will always follow the Ducks and be a fan and now I have a truly amazing story that I will be able to share with people forever - the year the Ducks made it to the Nationals.

Now we just have to wait until January 10 when the Ducks will be in Arizona playing Auburn. I want to win so badly! I can't wait! I am still hoping to somehow win a ticket and free travel to Arizona before then.
