Sometimes all you need is a quick trip home. I have been super stressed this last week trying to get my research papers done and prepare for the summer. So, I decided to make a dash for home after work on Friday. I needed a short stay away from my stress that is blossoming in Eugene.

When I got home, I was greeted by my faithful hound. She came out to my car barking and whining and jumping and carrying on with excitement. I was so happy to see her. Next came my cuddly kitty and then out of the house came my dad. I looked around our yard and it felt like I hadn't been home in forever. Spring had taken over and flowers and greenery dominated the area around my front porch.

I had gotten in late, so I went to bed soon after arriving, but the next day was true relaxation. I went to the beach with my dad and my dog. The beach is one of my favorite places in the entire world. Later, back at my house, my dad barbecued some chicken for us and we discussed school, news, celebrity gossip, and life. We took care of some business, like accepting my financial aid award for next year. We also watched the movie "Vertigo" because my Honors College literature class will be discussing it on Monday in relation to books we've read throughout the term.

This morning I woke up, got dressed, and went over to my mom's house. She made me a scrumptious breakfast and we took a stroll around the yard and her garden before I had to hop in the car and head back to Eugene. It was a nice ending to my quick trip home. I left feeling at peace.

My whole drive back to Eugene was beautiful. The sun was shining and I had my windows down as I played some Bob Marley and Marvin Gaye. I tried to soak in the moment as much as I could, knowing that as soon as I got back to Eugene, the feeling would fade. I could go on more about my trip home and describe it in intricate details, but to be honest, I'm a little burnt out on the writing front right now, so I'll leave this post at that. Here comes Week 10...!
