Hamilton Omelets

Decades after graduation, there will always be something from my college days that I will look back upon fondly. It was there for me throughout my freshman year and has continued to be there throughout my following four years. It has only gotten better. The day Student Housing began accepting debit cards was a beautiful day. High schoolers hear doom stories about college dorm food, but I quickly found out that the UO just doesn't roll like that. Freshman year, my dorm friends and I fell in love with the omelets in the Hamilton complex and we still love them to this day.

My friend from freshman year, Tiffany, and I have been having some pretty intense study parties this term. In fact, I think this is the most we have ever studied our entire college career - Oh well for having an easy final term! This weekend, we continued this trend. I needed to create my PowerPoint presentation for my thesis defense and Tiffany had work to do for all of her classes, so we somewhat reluctantly headed back to campus to study for the weekend. However, this time, we treated ourselves to a little something special first.

Before heading to our study room, Tiffany and I reminisced our way back to the Hamilton dorm complex to grab some of our favorite omelets. I must admit that I felt a bit old standing there in the food line with a bunch of freshman, but it was worth it. They have no idea how good they have it. They don't have to do dishes. They don't have to buy groceries. Sure, the food may get old from time to time, but the convenience is truly something to cherish. Anyway, the nice thing about weekend breakfast at the dorms it that they keep serving until 4pm. It was amazing how many times this became incredibly handy freshman year.

Tiffany and I went through the line, picking out what we wanted in our omelets. We felt a bit dorky getting excited over the fact that they had finally added minced garlic to the filling options. Once our omelets were made, we walked back with them to our study room and enjoyed. For some reason, no place makes an omelet quite like the UO. Our obsession for these tasty breakfast treats will always be something I smile about when remembering my UO days. Some day, I will return again for one - probably multiple times. At some point, I might have to pretend to be someone's parent so as to not look so out of place!
