Happy New Year & Welcome 2010!

Since I had a very non-traditional New Year's Eve in Pasadena, it has still to hit me that the year is 2010. I always love the beginning of the year because it is a time where everyone sits down to make resolutions. I do it every year. Although I do not always keep all my resolutions, I keep some of them. I see the beginning of the year as a time to evaluate your life and to help improve it. I took the year 2009 to become independent and finally learn how to take care of myself. One year later, I think I have accomplished this goal. Although I know I have an amazing support system of family and friends, I no longer need to cry to them about every hardship that may come my way.

Enough with the past---want to hear my resolutions for next year? Obviously I don't have any clue what you answered of if you answered but you get to read them anyways! Yay!

1. GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE: Right now, this is where all my focus and attention is. I've been in school for the last 17 years and it is extremely hard to stay motivated. College has always been important to me from an early age, and I want to make sure I finished strong and focused.

2. TO HAVE AN OPEN MIND: After I graduate, I am going to have about 1 million choices on what I want to do with my degree--jobs, internships, freeloading off my parents as long as they let me (just kidding mom and dad!) I am a very picky person by nature, and hope I keep an open mind about all aspects of a job including the company, the position, the pay and the location.

3. LISTEN TO MY MOTHER: My mother is an amazing woman. She always gives the best advice, and I constantly find myself saying to her "I know, I should have listened to you" (for example, when I went camping in the rain despite being sick and came home with pneumonia). The piece of advice I really want to follow is the cliché: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". As a 21 year old college girl, I find myself getting caught up in pointless drama. So for 2010, I am going to make sure that I stay positive. Talking negative about someone, something, or some situation will not help. Instead, I hope to bring a positive attitude to the table every day.

4. MY BUCKET LIST:
Everyone has a bucket list I am sure...the long list of everything they want to do before they die. I have already completed some my life-long dreams: go to prom, graduate from high school, be on the Price is Right with Bob Barker, travel to New York City, fall in love, and buy my own car. However, I still have a few pages worth of things I still want to accomplish. Things to do in 2010: donate my hair to locks of love, get my passport and travel, graduate from college, get my first real job, and skydive.

So watch out 2010...I am coming in head first and ready to go. It is going to be a GREAT year and I cannot wait!
