It's Thanksgiving morning once again, but this time, I woke up about 1,200 miles away from where I usually do. Last night I made the drive up to Portland to spend Thanksgiving with one of my roommates. Since I usually fly home out of Eugene, I always forget about the traffic up to Portland for the holiday. We left at around three in the afternoon, and I don't think we could have left at a worse time. The drive that usually takes about an hour and 45 minutes took closer to three hours with all of the stopping and going. At one point near Corvallis, we were at a stand still for over five minutes. I could see people getting out of their cars to try and look as far down the highway as possible to see what the hold up was.

We eventually made it up to Portland and went out for a delicious dinner in the Lake Oswego area. Despite the freezing cold weather it was fun to walk around and see all of the holiday decorations that are being put into place.

I just got out of the shower this morning and I have heard that watching football is on the agenda for the day. Everyone knows that there are always NFL games on Thanksgiving day, and even though the Detroit Lions ALWAYS play on this day, it's still enjoyable to kick my feet up and catch some scores from around the league. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because it gives me a reason to literally do nothing productive for an entire day (besides writing this blog of course). It's freezing outside still, which makes it even more enjoyable to have the luxury of a nice warm house to lounge around in. The Thanksgiving meal is by far the best part, and I just hope that I don't eat my self to the point of self-explosion, like I usually do.

Tomorrow morning will begin earlier than usual, as I have to wake up at the crack of dawn to make my way back down to Eugene for the football game against Arizona and a women's basketball tournament. That will be crazy enough, but then on Saturday I will be driving back up to the Rose Garden in Portland to watch the men's basketball team take on Duke. It will be a privilege to see Coach K and his number one ranked team up close and personal.

The word around the office is that every year, Coach K schedules a non-conference game against a team that is near the home town of every one of his seniors. Duke star Kyle Singler is from Medford, OR, so Coach K decided to bring his team out to play Oregon. The funny thing is that Kyle's brother E.J. plays for the U of O. It's cool that these two siblings will once again have another match up to add to the sibling rivalry. One of them has to lose on Saturday, but it should be fun to watch these two brothers battle it out on the same court for maybe the last time.
