Week six of every winter term is the mark of one thing: preparing for a fantastic weekend at the Sun River Resort in Bend, Ore. This year I'll be making my fourth and final trip to Sun River as an active University of Oregon student, so I'm determined to make it the best trip yet.

As always, I'll be heading there with my fraternity members and our selected dates for a nice weekend get-a-way from Eugene. I love being in Eugene as a proud member of Duck nation, but from time to time it's nice to take a little adventure through the beautiful Cascade Mountains (don't worry Rocky Mountains, you're still my favorite). The house that we rented becomes available for us on Friday at around noon, so the plan is to leave Eugene around 9:30 or 10 in the morning so that we are there by the time we can use the house. There is a good number of us going this year so we have three different houses that are relatively close to each other. Two of the houses, mine and another, are only about a block away from each other so I'm sure people will be making their way back and forth between the two for maximum socializing. We always try to get three houses together but Sun River is huge and there are always other groups of college students like ours that are looking to go there for a weekend, so it can be difficult.

Some people usually choose to ski or snowboard but the majority of us stay in the house to relax in the morning, and then proceed down to the Sun River village to get some food and walk around to check out all of the shops. Skiing would be a good time but I don't have any of my skiing equipment out here with me and I'd rather save some money and not purchase a lift ticket. Not hitting the slopes grants me more time to sleep in in the morning, as opposed to getting up early to try to make my way over to the mountain. Each house is usually equipped with a nice hot tub as well, so usually if I wake up early enough in the morning I can take a nice dip before everyone else. I have only seen Sun River in the winter time, but I can imagine that it is a nice place in the summer as well. There is a nice golf course right in the center of town that looks like it could be some fun. I may have to go back there one of these times to see a whole different side of this cozy little mountain town.

The two days that we spend there never seems like enough time, and it's always a dread getting back to Eugene and realizing all of the homework that was put off all weekend (that's why I'm writing this blog right now instead of later). The weekend should be a blast, and I'll tell you all about it when I get home!
