Dead Week Once Again

It is officially "dead week" at the University of Oregon and I'm definitely feeling the heat. I have two exams this week on Wednesday and Thursday, but luckily the test on Wednesday is the end of my finance class (YES!). It's kind of ironic that I have two tests during the week that is supposed to be dead, but it sure beats having a test during finals week.

I can't believe it is already here, but at this time tomorrow I will be with the sell-out crowd on hand to witness the Nike Clash Of Champions event in Matthew Knight Arena. Today I was given the full, detailed breakdown of my responsibilities for the event. Like I said in an earlier post, it is basically my responsibility to get Victoria Azarenka everywhere that she needs to be, by the time she is supposed to be there. Luckily her Nike representative will be with me to assist, but the the time frame from 3:30 until 9:30 is pretty jam packed so I'll need to be on my game. I can't wait to see what Matthew Knight Arena looks like as a tennis court, and I'm excited to experience the first tennis match of my life (with the best players in the world no less).

Tickets were gone in a matter of minutes after they were released, so I'm sure the atmosphere will be on point for this one of a kind event. I actually just drove by the arena and it looks like the operations crew is working away to get everything ready for the match. I can imagine that transforming a basketball court into a tennis court would take a good deal of time, but we have only the best in charge and I'm sure it will look fabulous. I never thought that while participating in my internship that I would be able to work at a professional event like this. In some ways I don't really know what to expect but I'm excited to get in the mix nonetheless. I have to miss a few classes tomorrow in order to be involved, but who doesn't love an excuse to get out of classes?

After this week is over, all I have left to do is put together a six page essay and then my last winter term at the University of Oregon is complete. While I'm ready for the academic rigor to come to an end, I wish life had a "slow down" button kind of like the "easy" button that Staples loves to advertise. I feel ready to get on with my post-collegiate career, but I will miss this period in my life, and I have had too many incredible experiences to count on my hands and feet. When I left high school I wasn't sure how my decision to attend the University of Oregon over trying to play division III baseball would play out, but after three and half years I have no doubts that I made the right decision, and I have enjoyed, and continue to enjoy every single day of being a Duck in Eugene.
