Bring on the Playoffs

Today marks the beginning of the playoffs for the intramural softball season. We were lucky to receive around the 10th seed out of 30 teams so today we are playing a rather inferior opponent. We went 2-1 in the regular season, and the team we play today lost all three of its games. We should definitely come out with a win, but we need to be careful not to overlook today's opponent, or else we may be upset and take an early exit from the post-season tournament. With every team making the playoffs, the road to the championship will be long, but we are certainly ready for it, and our team is running like a finely tuned piece of machinery. The game is at 6, so batting practice is set to start around 4:30 (just kidding, but maybe). The weather has been great all day long, so hopefully it will hold up for the first round showdown.

Pretty soon I'll be attending the end-of-year party with everyone in the marketing and promotions office within the athletic department. I think we are going to head over to Pegasus Pizza to get some grub and some drinks, and typically the event is to thank the current interns for all of their hard work during the course of the year, as well as welcoming the new interns to the program. It makes me realize how truly fast this year has flown by, because I remember attending this exact same party last spring term as a newly-selected intern, learning all the tricks of the trade from all of last year's interns. Now, the summer has passed, as well as fall, winter and 6 weeks of spring term, and now I am almost on my way out as a new crew comes in. It's crazy but the year has to end at some point, and I'm prepared to enjoy what is left of my time at the athletic department, as well as provide some helpful insights to the group that will be taking our places.

My classes are going well up to this point and I really have no concerns for the remainder of the term. Although I am becoming relatively sick of doing school work (as all other seniors are as well), I have continued to do everything I need to to make sure that I keep my grades where I want them. One of the worst possible scenarios I can think of would be to plan on graduating, but not being able to because I slacked off on the school work on the back end and didn't pass a class. I have never failed a class in college, but I feel like the term in which it would be the most likely would be the spring term of senior year. Luckily, I have been able to fight off the "senioritis" and I plan to do so until the term is done. My classes aren't too tough, so who knows, maybe this term will be a nice little GPA booster before I go!
