As the Term Winds Down

I have officially registered for my last term of college ever, and it's definitely a weird feeling knowing that I won't ever register for classes at the University of Oregon again. Regardless, my schedule is pretty legit and it should make for an enjoyable spring term in Eugene.

I have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays...and that is it. These days will be packed full of class time but it will be nice to have no classes on five out of the seven days of the week. Not having any classes on Monday, Wednesday or Friday will give me more flexibility with my work schedule. Now I can basically go in for office hours whenever I want on those days. I am only going to be taking 12 credits so this should be one of the more calm spring terms I have had while at Oregon.

Last night the men's basketball team suffered a damaging loss to the Golden Bears from Berkeley. We were on our way up the charts in the Pac 10 but needed to bring home a win last night in our own arena. The loss hurts and will likely push us farther back in the standings. We came out strong in the first half and were up 30-17 at one point. Cal clawed its way back in the second half and the next time I saw the score board we were down three. For some reason it seemed like our offense was a tad sluggish. Usually we move around much faster and our quick guards are more eager to take the ball to the hoop. The last home game of the season is tomorrow against the Stanford Cardinal and we could definitely use a win. Our win against Stanford earlier in the season was the first time that we have one at Stanford since the 1985-86 season. I hope that we will be able to bring the same intensity that we brought to the Cardinal in the first round, but it's always difficult to beat a conference opponent twice in the same season. Hopefully Matthew Knight Arena will be packed full for the last home action for the men's team this season. Starting forward Joevon Catron has been at Oregon the entire time I have been here and I'd like to see him go out on top as his career at Oregon comes to a close.

These next few weeks might get a little stressful, as they usually do for all college students as the term comes to an end. I have a portfolio review next week in Portland for my capstone public relations class so I'll be spending the next few days preparing for that. Finals are around the corner so I'll need to make sure to put in the necessary hours at the library. I've gotta say I'm gonna miss working at the basketball games. Although it can be stressful at times, I have really enjoyed my internship at the athletic department and I look forward to moving on to the baseball season!
